Guided Unit Studies

What are Guided Unit Studies?

A Guided Unit takes a popular topic of interest and analyzes it through the lens of each curriculum area. It includes all relevant Montessori lessons and materials to deepen the learning experience. Here is a sample unit around on the topic of dinosaurs.

Why Should I Use a Guided Unit?

This approach places the learner in the driver seat. We use the interest of the child to build the scope and sequence of Montessori lessons and experiences that are authentic and relevant to the child. This resource is comprehensive and integrates all curriculum areas.

How does it work?

Simply download the Guided Unit Study for the level (Upper or Lower Elementary) you are interested in. It includes an overview of all relevant lessons organised by subject areas. Each subject area is organised into lesson sequences and are accompanied by supplementary material . Each lesson is outlined in detail including material needed, age, aim, follow up ideas for independent work and other resources to explore. Here is a sample lesson for the dinosaur unit.
